Sony Pictures is not easing into the next era of Spider Man. It just flipped the switch on a full scale global moment.
The first trailer for Spider-Man Brand New Day debuted through a 24-hour worldwide fan relay that tracked the sunrise across the globe. Instead of a standard trailer drop, the studio handed the spotlight to fans, with Tom Holland leading the rollout by inviting a select group to share what Spider-Man means to them before revealing exclusive pieces of the trailer along the way.
Each participant tagged the next, turning the launch into a continuous handoff across time zones. It played less like marketing and more like a relay race built on nostalgia, with the character’s legacy carried from one voice to the next until the full picture came into focus.

That build led to New York, where Holland capped the event at the top of the Empire State Building, unveiling the full trailer alongside local fans. The landmark lit up in Spider Man’s signature red and blue, marking the first time the building has been illuminated for a trailer launch.
The film signals a reset for the character following Spider Man No Way Home. Set four years later, Peter Parker is now living completely off the grid, having erased himself from the lives and memories of those closest to him. The city no longer knows who he is, but he continues operating as a full time Spider Man, fully committed to protecting New York.
That isolation comes with a cost. As the pressure mounts, Peter begins to experience a physical evolution that threatens his stability, just as a new wave of crime points to one of the most powerful threats he has faced.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film brings back Tom Holland alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, with Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo joining the cast.
Spider Man Brand New Day arrives exclusively in theaters July 31, 2026.
