DC Studios has released a new trailer for Supergirl, giving fans their best look yet at a very different kind of Kryptonian hero.
While Superman is often portrayed as a symbol of hope and optimism, the latest footage makes it clear that Kara Zor-El has a much different outlook on the universe. Played by Milly Alcock, Supergirl appears to be driven by hard truths and painful experiences that separate her from her famous cousin.
Early in the trailer, Kara acknowledges the contrast between herself and Superman, explaining that while Clark Kent tends to see the good in everyone, she focuses on the truth. That philosophical divide appears to be a major theme throughout the film.
Rather than protecting a single city on Earth, Kara finds herself on a galaxy spanning journey filled with danger, revenge, and massive interstellar stakes. The trailer hints at a mission tied to the destructive actions of the Brigins, setting the stage for a story that feels more like a space western than a traditional superhero movie.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El alongside Jason Momoa as the fan favorite bounty hunter Lobo. David Corenswet is also expected to appear as Superman following his debut in the new DC Universe.
One of the trailer’s most emotional elements centers on Kara’s relationship with Krypto the Superdog, suggesting the film will balance its large scale cosmic adventure with a more personal and character driven story.
Based on the acclaimed comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, Supergirl is set to deliver a mature and visually ambitious chapter in DC’s expanding cinematic universe.
Supergirl arrives exclusively in theaters on June 26, 2026.
