Steve Carell is stepping back into the comedy spotlight with ROOSTER, a new Max original series that just dropped its first trailer, and it looks like chaotic family drama meets campus comedy in the best way possible.
The show follows a best selling author whose daughter Casey hits a rough patch at college after a string of disasters that includes burning down a faculty house and clashing with a professor. With her life spiraling, Carell’s character inserts himself into campus life, trying to help while wrestling with his own baggage and the shadow of his larger than life “Rooster” persona.
The trailer leans into awkward humor, messy parenting moments, and the kind of emotional chaos that feels just grounded enough to sting a little. Alongside Carell, the series stars Scott MacArthur, Connie Britton, Danielle Deadwyler, and Phil Dunster.
The HBO Original comedy series ROOSTER debuts SUNDAY, MARCH 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
